‘감람나무 원 가지에 접붙임 받은 이방인’
본문관찰과 묵상
유대인은 불신으로 감람나무의 가지가 잘려나갔다. 그 자리에 이방인이 믿음으로 접붙임을 받았다. 참 감람나무의 진액을 받아 이방인이 구원받음을 보고 유대인이 시기하여 주께 돌아오게 된다.
QT 를 통해 듣는 주님의 음성
그러므로 이방인인 나는 나를 자랑하면 안된다. 은혜로 구원 받았으니 더욱 겸손하게 복음을 전해야 한다. 특별히 유대인의 남은자의 수가 찰 때까지 유대인에게도 복음을 전해 빚을 갚는다.
결단과 적용
참 감람나무의 원가지인 유대인도 불신으로 가지를 꺽으셨는데 하물며 나 같은 이방인이랴. 참 감람나무 열매를 맺도록 접붙여 주신 주님과 유대인에게 감사한다. 그리고 그 복음의 빚진자로 빚을 갚기 위해 오늘도 전심을 다해 복음을 전하며 살아간다.
‘A wild olive shoot was grafted in olive branches’
Rom. 11:11-24
Observation and meditation on the text
Some branches of olive tree, the disobedient Jews were cut off. And some gentiles were grafted in the places. Now the gentiles share in the nourishment sap from the olive root, and saved. It has made Israel envious so that some of the Jews may return to God.
I hear the voice of the Lord through QT
Therefore, I am not supposed to boast of my superiority to the Jews who were cut off. Since I was saved by the grace of God, I must share the gospel of Jesus Christ in humility. Especially, I must witness Jesus to the Jews as a debtor of the gospel until God would be satisfied by the fulfillment of the numbers of the saved Jews.
Decisions and applications
God did not spare the natural branches, the unbelieving Jews, God will not spare me either if I don’t believe in Jesus Christ. I give thanks to God who has grafted me in Jesus to bear fruit, and the Jews who were cut off so that I may be grafted in their place. Therefore, as a debtor of the gospel, today I simply witness Jesus to all people including the Jews as well as the gentiles all the way to the end wholeheartedly.
