‘본래 무익한 존재는 심판 때 땔감이 된다’
본문관찰과 묵상
포도나무 가지는 본래 무엇을 만드는데 아무 소용이 없는 존재다. 예루살렘 주민도 같은 존재인데 심판이 임하면 땔감밖에 쓸데없다. 예루살렘을 황폐케 함으로 하나님이 하나님 이신 줄 알게 되리라.
QT를 통해 듣는 주님의 음성
하나님의 사랑은 공의와 정의가 항상 함께 한다. 죄를 지어도 그냥 품는 것은 사랑이 아니다. 품기 위해 징계한다. 징계를 받음으로 하나님이 하나님이심을 알고 하나님께 돌아온다.
결단과 적용
그러므로 공의와 정의에 따른 징계가 없는 것은 사랑이 아니다. 내가 하나님의 뜻을 거역했는데도 그냥 다 받아주는 하나님은 하나님이 아니다. 사랑하는 자를 징계해 회개시켜 그의 거룩하심에 참여케 하신다 (히 12:8,10). 나를 연단시키시는 주님께 감사드린다.

Observation and meditation on the text
Ontologically, the wood of a vine is useless to make anything useful. Likewise, God said to Ezekiel the people living in Jerusalem were useless to make anything useful due to their idol worship. At God’s judgment, they would be used as fuel for the fire. God would make the land desolate so that people might realize the Lord was God to return to God.
I hear the voice of the Lord through QT
God’s love accompanies with justice and righteousness. It is not God’s love to embrace unjust and unrighteous sinners. God judges to embrace the sinners for their transformation. When a sinner is chastised and judged by God, they will realize the Lord is God, and they will return to God.
Decisions and applications
Therefore, if there is no punishment by God’ justice and righteousness, it is not God’s love. It is not God if God embraces me even when I betray God’s will. God disciplines beloved ones so that they may repent of their sins and participate in God’ s holiness. I thank God who disciplines me.
