‘멘토를 잃어버리면 망한다’
본문관찰과 묵상
제사장 여호야다가 제단옆에 궤를 두어 성전에 드리는 모든 은을 모았다. 그 은을 성전맡은자에게 주어 오직 성전보수에만 사용하였다. 제사장에게만 속건제와 속죄제의 은을 드렸다.
QT를 통하여 듣는 주님의 음성
여호야다가 죽자 요아스는 하나님을 의지하지 않았다. 아람왕 하사엘이 쳐들어 오자 여호사밧때부터 모은 성물과 금을 주고 살아났다. 그의 신복들이 그를 쳐서 죽였다. 제사장 여호야다의 멘토링이 없자 그는 불신으로 망했다.
결단과 적용
나의 멘토는 누구인가? 우리 주 예수 그리스도다. 범사에 주님께 묻고 주님의 응답을 받으며 살리라. 내 생각대로 하지 않고 주님주시는 능력으로 강하고 담대하게 살리라.‘우리는 뒤로 물러가 멸망할 자가 아니요 오직 영혼을 구원함에 이르는 믿음을 가진 자니라’(히 10:39). ‘푯대를 향하여 그리스도 예수 안에서 하나님이 위에서 부르신 부름의 상을 위하여 달려가노라’(빌 3:14). 뒤로 물러가지 않으리라! 푯대를 향하여 달려가리라!

Observation and meditation on the text
Jehoiada the priest placed a chest beside the altar so that people put all the money for the temple of God. The money was put in the hands of the appointed supervisor for the temple of God so that it must be used only for the renovation of the temple of God. Only the priests received money for guilt and sin offerings.
I hear the voice of the Lord through QT
Upon the death of Jehoiada the priest, king Joash did not rely on the Lord. When he was attacked by Hazael king of Aram, instead of praying to God he gave his enemy gold and all the sacred objects gathered from all kings starting Jehoshaphat. They survived from the attack of Aram, but his subjects struck him to death. King Joash was destroyed from the moment of the loss of his mentor Jehoiada.
Decisions and applications
Who is my mentor? He is Jesus Christ. I will ask him what and how to do in everything and obey him. Instead of insisting my own opinion, I will live with boldness and courage from my Lord. ‘We do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved’ (Heb 10:39). ‘I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus’ (Phil 3:14). I will never shrink back but press on toward the goal!
