‘나 와 부모가 갚지 못한 죄값을 누가 갚았나?’
본문관찰과 묵상
하나님은 에스겔에게 속담을 통해 가르쳤다. ‘아버지가 신 포도를 먹어 내 이가 시다’는 속담은 핑계 댐을 말한다. 아비가 지은 죄를 아들이 못 갚고 아들이 지은 죄는 아버지가 못 갚는다.
QT를 통해 듣는 주님의 음성
의인의 공은 의인에게 악인의 악은 악인에게 돌아간다. 각자 자신이 행한대로 심판 받는다. 부모의 죄를 보고 깨닫고 회개하는 자는 구원을 받는다. 남에게 핑계대지 않아도 주님께 회개하면 주님이 내 죄값을 십자가에서 다 치러 주셨기에 나는 용서받는다.
결단과 적용
후회와 회개는 다르다. 후회는 존 오트버그의 말처럼 반 사실적 사고로 내 삶을 더 망하게 한다. ‘그때 그렇게 했을 걸’ 하는 후회는 과거지향적이다. 잘못한 것 깨닫고 회개하면 살길로 인도받는다. 나의 과거의 억울함에 사로잡혀 미래를 망치지 말라. 첫째, 내가 회개 하면 주님은 ‘십자가에서 새롭고 살길’을 열어 주사 나로 다시 시작하게 하신다. 둘째, 내가 공의와 정의로 행했는데 핍박 받으면 기뻐하고 즐거워하면 된다. ‘하늘에서 너의 상이 큼이라 너희 전에 있던 선지자들도 이같이 박해했느니라’ (마 5:12). 후회하지 않고 회개하며 오늘을 공의와 정의로 주안에서 담대히 살아간다.

Observation and meditation on the text
God taught Ezekiel by quoting a Jewish proverb. ‘Since my father ate sour grapes, my teeth are set on edge.’ It teaches me that I am inclined to blame others. However, God told Ezekiel that son would never be able to pay the debts of his father’s sins, and vice versa. We must not live by blaming one another.
I hear the voice of the Lord through QT
The righteousness of the righteous will be credited to them, and the wickedness of the wicked will be charged against them. However, if I repent of my sins as I see my father’s sinful life, then I shall be saved. If I repent of my sins instead of blaming my father or someone else, Jesus Christ who has paid all my debts of my sins on the cross will pardon me.
Decisions and applications
Regret is one thing and repentance is another. As John Ortberg says that ‘regret is an anti-realistic way of thinking.’ ‘I wish I should have done it in this way,’ will never help me for my future. It is a past-oriented way of life than futuristic paradigm. However, if I realize my wrong doings in the past and repent of my sins, I shall be led to a new and living way. I must not destroy my future life as I am circumscribed by the past. First, if I repent of my sins my Lord will lead me to ‘a new and living way’ which was made by the crucifixion of Jesus’ so that I may start a new life. Second, if I am persecuted and afflicted by false accusations, I will rejoice and be glad in it because Jesus says, ‘your reward is great in heaven because the prophets before you were also persecuted in the same way.’ (Matt 5:11-12). Therefore, today I never regret of my past but repent of my sins and live boldly in Jesus’ justice and righteousness.
