‘핑계, 남탓하지 말라, 네 믿음으로 일어나라’
본문관찰과 묵상
예수는 가나에서 기적을 행하신후 예루살렘에 명절을 지키러 갔다. 양문옆에 ‘은혜의 집’이라는 베데스다 못이 있었다. 누구든지 먼저 들어가는 자는 다 고침을 받았다. 38년된 병자에게 ‘네가 낫고자 하느냐?’는 질문에 그는 아무도 도와주지 않는다라고 핑계대었다. 네가 일어나 걸어가라고 했다.
QT를 통하여 듣는 주님의 음성
내가 낫고자 하는 목마름이 있어야 한다. 모든 핑계를 댄다고 내가 고침받지 못한다. 예수님은 네 문제를 들고 내 말을 듣고 일어나 걸어가라고 하셨다. 귀신들린 딸 둔 가나안 여인에게 ‘네 소원대로 되리라,’여리고성의 소경 거지 바디매오에게‘네 믿음이 너를 구원하였느니라’(막 10:52)했다. 내 믿음으로 내 문제가 들려지고 내가 걸어간다.
결단과 적용
그런데 38년된 환자는 기적을 체험하고도 자신을 구원한 이가 누군지 몰랐다. 성전에서 그를 만나신 예수님이 병이 낫는 기적을 체험했어도 구원자 그리스도 메시야 예수가 구원한 것을 모르면 전보다 형편이 더 나빠질것이라 했다. 기적보다 중요한 것은 기적을 일으키신 분이 누구인지, 나의 구원자가 누구인지 아는 것이다. 지혜와 계시의 영 (엡 1:17)을 받아야 한다. ‘여호와의 영, 지혜와 총명의 영, 모략과 재능의 영, 지식과 여호와를 경외하는 영이 이새의 줄기에서 난 싹, 그 뿌리에서 난 한 가지인 예수의 영이다’(사 11:1-2). 성령으로 나의 구원자를 믿고 그를 아는 것에, 즉 교제하여 하나가 되면 온전한 사람, 그리스도의 장성한 분량에 도달한다 (엡 4:13). 어린아이처럼 요동하는 미성숙에서 성숙함으로 주님과의 교제를 통하여 자라나야 한다.

Observation and meditation on the text
Jesus went up to Jerusalem to attend a Jewish festival after performing the 2nd miracle at Cana. There was a pool in Aramic Bethesda, ‘a house of grace,’ near the Sheep Gate. Any disabled person who went into the pool was healed. Jesus asked a person who had been ill for 38 years, ‘do you want to get well?’ However, he blamed others because no one had ever helped him to go into the pool. Jesus ordered him, ‘pick your map and walk.’
I hear the voice of the Lord through QT
There must be hunger and thirst in my heart to be healed. By excuses or blaming others will never heal me. Jesus simply tells me that I must pick up problems and walk by faith in Jesus. He declared to a Canaanite woman who asked Jesus to heal her demon possessed daughter, ‘you have great faith, your request is granted’ (Matt 15:28). Jesus declared to Bartimaeus the blind beggar, ‘your faith has healed you’ (Mk 10:52). By my faith in Jesus, I am set free from my burdens, and I can walk freely.
Decisions and applications
However, the healed man from his 38 years old illness did not know who healed him. Jesus met him in the temple of God and lucidly told him that something worse might happen to him unless he stopped sinning by knowing that he was saved from his sins by the Saviro and Lord Jesus Christ. Much more important thing than miracle itself is to know Jesus who brings about miracles. Therefore, I must be filled with the Spirit of wisdom and revelation (Eph 1:17) to know my Savior and Lord Jesus. The perfect 7 spirits, ‘the Spirit of the Lord is the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, The Spirit of Counsel and of might, The Spirit of the Knowledge and fear of the Lord,’ who are filled in Jesus Christ who is a shoot who comes up from the stump of Jesse, a Branch that will bear fruit from his roots (Isa 11:1-2). I will reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and grow to become the mature member of the body of Jesus who is the head of the body, Christ by the Spirit of God if I believe in Jesus and know him through my incessant fellowship with His words and prayer (Eph 4:13-14). I must keep on growing mature from immature baby like faith who is tossed to and fro.
