‘믿음은 대를 물려 전수되는 복이다’

본문관찰과 묵상     

     갈렙의 믿음은 나이를 초월했다.   헤브론에서 아낙 의 3 거인 아들들을 죽였다.  기럇세벨을 점령하는 믿음의 사람에게 딸을 준다 했더니 믿음의 용사 조카 웃니엘이 점령하여 사위가 되었다.

     웃니엘은 후에 사사가 되어 이스라엘을 구하는 자가 되었다.   갈렙의 딸 악사가 웃니엘과 결혼해 네겝 사막으로 갈 때 아버지에게 요청해 웃 샘과 아랫 샘을 받아 갔다.  믿음은 대를 물려 전수된다.         

결단과 적용

     나의 믿음이 내 자손들에게 전수되기를 기도한다.  그렇다면 내가 본을 보여야 한다.  내가 육신적으로 많이 어렵고 힘든 현재의 상황 이지만 끝까지 복음을 전하며 순교자 적인 삶을 살 때 자녀들도, 성도들도 동역자들도 그 믿음의 유산을 받아 이 험한 세상 주님을 믿는 믿음으로 담대히 살기를 기도한다.

Observation and meditation on the text

     Caleb’s faith transcended his age.  He killed Anak’s 3 giant sons.  When he promised to give her daughter Aksah to anyone who could destroy Kiriath Sepher, Caleb’s nephew Othniel had enough faith and courage to conquer it and he became Caleb’s son-in-law.   

I hear the voice of the Lord through QT

     Later Othniel became a judge and saved Israel.  When Aksah got married and moved to Negeb she was brave enough to ask her father Caleb to give her upper and lower springs.  Faith can be transcended to the next generations.   

Decisions and applications

     I pray that my faith can be inherited by my descendants.   Then, I must show them exemplary life of faith.  Therefore, even though I am physically very weak and exhausted I will live a martyr like a life as a witness of Jesus.  Then, I am sure my descendants, church members and colleagues will inherit such faith so that they may live also as people of strong faith in such a secularized contemporary world.
