‘믿음의 사람들에게 피할 길을 주시는 하나님’
본문관찰과 묵상
여호수아가 보낸 2명의 정탐꾼은 발각되어 죽임 당할 위기에 봉착했다. 그러나 순종한 2명의 정탐꾼은 하나님이 주신 피할 길 인 라합의 믿음으로 구원받았다.
QT를 통해 듣는 주님의 음성
라합이 자신의 생명을 걸고 정탐꾼 2명을 살린 이유가 무엇일까? 첫째, 라합은 이스라엘의 하나님에 대한 소문을 듣고 하나님을 믿었기 때문이다. 둘째, 돈 때문에 몸을 팔던 창기가 하나님을 믿었기에 하나님의 종들을 살린 것은 하나님의 영광을 위해서다.
결단과 적용
믿음의 사람은 삶의 목적이 변한다. 자신의 생존을 위한 삶에서 하나님의 뜻을 기쁨으로 자원하여 이루려는 삶의 목적이 변한다. 자신을 죽음으로 내 몰았지만 죽으려고 하는 사람은 살림을 받는다. 감당치 못하는 시험을 당할 때 피할 길을 주시는 주님을 찬양한다.
‘God who provides a way out for the believers’
Jos 2:1-7
Observation and meditation on the text
The 2 spies were on the brink of crisis of life or death if they were found by king of Jericho. However, the obedient spies were delivered from imminent crisis of death by the prostitute Rahab, who was given as God’s way out for them by her faith.
I hear the voice of the Lord through QT
What could be the reasons for Rahab to save the 2 spies by taking a risk of laying down her own life? First, she believed in God by hearing of the Lord of the Israelites. Second, although Rahab used to sell her body as a prostitute to survive, she did it because her life goal was changed from surviving to glorifying the Lord by believing in God.
Decisions and applications
A man of faith in God changes his life goal from surviving to volunteering to please God’s will out of joy and willingness. Although she drove herself to die, she was saved. I praise the Lord for God’s faithfulness to provide a way out whenever I am confronted by temptations beyond what I can bear. My way out is Jesus Christ.
