‘죄를 죽여 죄인을 살리신 구세주’

본문관찰과 묵상

     유다 지파중 아간이 범인으로 뽑혔다.  그는 노략한 물건 중에 귀한 것들을 장막 가운데 숨겼다.  아간은 그가 숨긴 모든 것들과 함께 아골 골짜기에서 돌로 맞아 죽었다.  죄의 삯은 사망이다.

     아간 한 사람의 불순종으로 인해 이스라엘 전체가 아이 성 공격 때 참패했다.  아담 한 사람의 죄로 온 인류에게 사망의 권세가 덮였다.  죄인은 심판을 받아야 한다.  그 죄를 십자가에서 죽여야 살아난다.  

결단과 적용

     탐심은 모든 범죄의 원인이 된다.  한 사람의 탐심이 공동체를 파괴시켰다.  그 사람이 심판 받아 죽는 것은 그 죄를 죽이는 것이다. 탐심이 죽어야 나도 공동체도 산다.  ‘욕심이 잉태한즉 죄를 낳고 죄가 장성한 즉 사망을 낳느니라’ (약 1:15).  나의 탐심과 나의 죄를 십자가에서 죽어 주심으로 나를 살리신 주님을 찬양한다.

Observation and meditation on the text

     Achan, out of Judah tribe, was chosen as the criminal.  He hid valuable things in his tent.  Along with the stolen things he was stoned to death at the Valley of Achor.  The wage of sin is death.  

I hear the voice of the Lord

     Achan, one man’s disobedience caused the defeat of all Israelites when they attacked Jericho.  One man Adam’s sin brought about the power of death fell on all human beings.  Sinner must be judged.  If I crucify my sins, I shall rise again. 

Decisions and applications

     Covetousness is the reason for all kinds of sins.  One man’s fleshly desire destroyed his community.  When a sinner is crucified, his sin is destroyed.  When my fleshly desire and covetousness are crucified, my community as well as I will be revived.  ‘After desire has conceived it gives birth to sin, when it is full grown, gives birth to death’ (James 1:15).  I praise the Lord who has revived me by crucifying my sins on the cross and resurrecting for my new life.
