‘나병환자와 백부장이 보여준 절대 신뢰의 믿음’

1. 본문 관찰과 묵상

산 위에서 보배로운 말씀을 선포하신 예수님께서 산 아래로 내려오셨을 때 두 사람이 예수께 나왔다. 나병환자는 사회적 격리를 뚫고 예수께 나아와 엎드려 고쳐 자신의 병을 고쳐 주시기를 간구 했다. 백부장은 가버나움에서 자기의 종의 중풍병을 위해 예수님을 찾았다. 그는 "말씀만 하옵소서"라며 주님의 절대 주권과 권능을 온전히 신뢰했다.

2. QT를 통해 듣는 주님의 음성

때로는 말씀을 늘 접하는 자보다, 말씀의 갈급 함 속에 있는 자의 믿음이 더 뜨거울 때가 있음을 본다. 나병환자의 담대함은 '반드시 고침 받아야 한다'는 간절함에서 나왔다. 백부장의 겸손함은 '자신 보다 낮은 자를 향한 사랑'에서 시작되었다. 주님은 오늘 나에게 물으신다. "너는 네 자신의 치유를 위해 담대히 나아오고 있느냐? 또한 타인의 고통을 위해 내 앞에 무릎 꿇고 있느냐?"

3. 결단과 적용

"그 나라의 본 자손들은 바깥 어두운 데 쫓겨나 거기서 울며 이를 갈게 되리라" (마 8:12). 혈통이나 직분이 구원을 보장하지 않는다. 이방인이었던 백부장처럼, 주님은 오직 '믿음'만을 보신다. 오늘 하루, 나 자신의 영적 회복을 위해 주님께 담대히 나아가는 동시에, 내 주변의 아픈 영혼들을 품고 중보 하며 전도와 선교의 사명을 실천하며 살아가리라.

오늘의 기도

주님, 나병환자처럼 부끄러움을 무릅쓰고 오직 주님만을 갈망하며 담대히 서게 하소서. 또한 백부장처럼 내 곁의 소외된 자들을 위해 중보 하게 하소서. 그들의 영혼이 구원받을 수 있도록 전도하고 선교하는 삶을 살게 하소서. 예수님의 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

‘Faith Revealed through a Leper and a Centurion’

Mt. 8:1–13

1. Observation and Meditation

The disciples listened to Jesus on the mountain. When they came down, a leper approached and asked for healing. Later, when Jesus went to Capernaum, a centurion asked Him to heal his paralyzed servant. The centurion recognized Jesus’ authority and said that if Jesus would only speak the word, his servant would be healed.

2. I hear the voice of the Lord through Quiet Time

Sometimes those who have heard Jesus’ teaching show less faith than those who have not—Jews versus Gentiles in this passage. Where did the leper’s courage come from? He desperately wanted healing. The centurion’s love for his servant brought him to Jesus in faith. Lord, inspire me to bring healing to others and to receive healing for myself.

3. Decisions and applications

“But the subjects of the kingdom will be thrown outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth” (Matt. 8:12). Gentiles like the leper and the centurion demonstrated greater faith in the sovereign Lord than many of the Jews and some disciples. Because anyone can be saved by faith, I will come to Jesus on behalf of others and myself, sharing this story so others may believe.

Today’s prayer:

Lord, to heal my wounds, help me stand before You boldly instead of feeling ashamed to long for Your touch. Empower me to pray for the unsaved so they may be led to Jesus and delivered through my evangelism and mission. In Jesus’ name, amen.
