‘죄인을 구원하러 오신 예수’
1. 본문 관찰과 묵상
예수는 중풍병자에게 죄 사함을 받았다고 했다. 서기관들이 신성모독이라 했다. 인자는 죄를 사하는 권세가 있는 하나님임을 선포했다. 세리 마태의 집에서 죄인들과 식사했다.
2. QT를 통해 듣는 주님의 음성
바리새인들이 보고 비난했다. 그러나 예수는 자신이 긍휼을 원하지 제사를 원하지 않는다 했다. 그 뜻을 배우라 했다. 의미 없는 종교적 의식으로 사람에게 인정 받으려 하지 말고 긍휼이 여겨 살리는 자가 되라는 말씀이다.
3. 결단과 적용
“나는 인애를 원하고 제사를 원치 않는다. 번제 보다 하나님 아는 것을 원한다” (호 6:6). 하나님은 사람을 사랑함을 원하지 사랑 없는 공허한 외식적 행사를 원치 않는다. “하나님은 사랑이시라” (요일 4:8)를 알면 나는 하나님을 아는 자다. 거짓으로 내게 프레임을 씌우고 욕하는 자를 진심으로 불쌍히 여기며 저들을 용서하며 사랑하며 살기를 매 순간 결단한다.
오늘의 기도
“나로 말미암아 너희를 욕하고 거짓으로 너희를 거슬려 모든 악한 말을 할 때에는 기뻐하고 즐거워하라 하늘에서 너희 상이 큼이니라 너희 전에 있던 선지자들도 이같이 박해 하였느니라” (마 5:11-12). 하늘의 상급을 바라보며 오늘도 용서 하고 사랑하며 살게 하소서!
‘Jesus, Who Has Come to Save Sinners’
Mt. 9:1–13
1. Observation and Meditation
Jesus told a paralyzed man to go home because his sins were forgiven. Hearing this, some teachers of the law accused Him of blasphemy. Jesus responded by asserting that the Son of Man has the authority on earth to forgive sins. Later, He dined at the house of Matthew, a tax collector, surrounded by other "sinners" and outcasts.
2. Hearing the Voice of the Lord
When the Pharisees criticized Jesus for His associations, He challenged them to learn the meaning of the scripture: "I desire mercy, not sacrifice." Jesus’ mission was to revive and restore sinners through forgiveness, rather than participating in meaningless religious rituals designed to impress others. He came to offer a relationship, not a performance.
3. Decisions and Applications
Hosea 6:6 says, "For I desire mercy, not sacrifice, and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offerings." God wants me to love others—especially those seen as "sinners"—rather than just repeating rituals without a heart of love.
Since "God is love" (1 John 4:8), to truly know Him is to love like Him. I thank God for empowering me to forgive those who have falsely accused me. I commit to living out this truth by practicing and sharing Jesus’ love with everyone I encounter.
Today's Prayer
"Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven..." (Matthew 5:11–12).
Lord, strengthen me so that I may continue to forgive and love my adversaries. Help me keep my eyes fixed on You and the rewards of heaven rather than the sting of earthly criticism. Amen.
