‘섬기는 종이 가장 큰 사람이다’
본문관찰과 묵상
예수님이 수난을 겪고 죽은후 사흘만에 부활할 것을 3번째 제자들에게 말씀하셨다. 세배대의 두 아들 야고보와 요한은 그때 자신들이 예수님 좌우편에 앉게 해 달라고 하였다. 예수님은 섬기는 자가 으뜸이 되리라고 말씀하셨다.
QT를 통하여 듣는 주님의 음성
제자들은 예수님을 따랐던 이유가 큰 자가 되기 위함인 제자들도 있었다.
예수님이 수난을 말씀해도 예수님이 세상적인 왕 같은 정복자가 되어 권세를 휘둘룰줄 알았다. 그러나 하나님의 나라에서 큰 자는 섬기는 자이다.
결단과 적용
내가 은퇴하고 몸이 많이 부서진 이 나이에 세상적인 으뜸이 되려는 마음은 추호도 없다. 나를 제물로 드려 죽어도 좋으니 주님의 영광을 나타내는 나의 마지막 삶이 되기 원한다. 선교에 마지막 삶을 제물로 드리며 살리라!

Observation and meditation on the text
Jesus declared at the third time to his disciples that he would be crucified but raised again after 3 days on the way to Jerusalem. Zebedee’s 2 sons Jacob and John asked Jesus to let them be seated on both sides of Jesus when he would be enthroned. Jesus spoke to them that a servant would be the greatest.
I hear the voice of the Lord through QT
A couple of Jesus’ disciples followed Jesus to become great people. When Jesus prophesied his afflictions and sufferings, they believed that Jesus would be a great worldly conqueror like a king who’d got tremendous authority and power. However, Jesus taught them that if they would be great, they must be a servant in the heavenly kingdom.
Decisions and applications
As such an old man who’s got retired with broken body, I have no slightest idea to become a great man in this world. On the contrary, it is my desire to glorify the name of Jesus for the rest of my life as I lay down myself as a peace offering as I get involved in world missions.
