‘아담의 족보와 예수의 족보의 차이’
본문관찰과 묵상
아담의 족보는 결국 '죽음'으로 귀결되지만, 예수의 족보는 끊임없이 생명을 '낳는' 역사를 보여준다. 하나님께서는 아브라함과 다윗에게 하신 언약을 신실하게 지키셨으며, 예수 그리스도께서는 그 모든 약속을 성취하심으로써 우리에게 구원과 영원한 생명을 주셨다.
QT를 통해 듣는 주님의 음성
아브라함부터 다윗까지 14대, 다윗부터 바벨론 포로기까지 14대, 그리고 그 이후 예수님까지 14대. 이 긴 흐름 속에서 인간은 끊임없이 실수하고 넘어졌으나, 하나님은 단 한 번의 오차도 없이 언약을 이행하셨다. 특히 남성 중심의 족보 속에 여성과 이방인의 이름이 기록된 것은, 예수님의 구원이 혈통과 자격에 매이지 않고 모든 열방과 죄인을 향한 보편적인 구원이며 영생임을 확증한다.
결단과 적용
내가 아무리 수고했을지라도 그것은 나의 공로가 아니다. 나의 실수와 죄악 중에도 하나님은 나 같은 죄인을 통하여 구원의 역사를 묵묵히 이루고 계시다. 설령 나는 실패했을지라도, 하나님은 나의 실패까지도 합력하여 선을 이루시는 분(롬 8:28)임을 고백한다. 오늘도 변함없이 신실하신 주님, 내게 생명을 주신 그 사랑을 찬양한다.
[오늘의 기도제목]
신실하지 못한 저를 붙드시는 신실하신 주님을 바라봅니다. 주를 앙망하는 자에게 약속하신 '새 힘'을 허락하여 주소서.
"독수리가 날개 치며 올라감 같이" 주께서 맡겨주신 사명을 넉넉히 감당하게 하시고, 부족한 저를 통하여 오직 주님의 뜻과 언약의 말씀만이 온전히 이루어지게 하소서. 오늘도 저를 주님의 거룩한 도구로 사용하여 주시옵소서.
‘The Genealogy of death, and Life’

Observation and Meditation
The genealogy of Adam is a record of mortality, ending in death. In contrast, the genealogy of Jesus is a record of life, showing how God’s grace continually brings forth new beginnings. Jesus Christ stands as the fulfillment of God’s ancient covenants with Abraham and David. Through His redemptive death, He has bridged the gap of the Fall, offering eternal life to all.
Hearing the Voice of the Lord
Matthew structures the lineage of Christ into three sets of fourteen generations. This structure reveals a powerful truth: despite forty-two generations of human failure, rebellion, and weakness, God remained faithful to His promise. The inclusion of women and Gentiles in this list—individuals often marginalized or seen as outsiders—proclaims that the salvation found in Jesus is universal. His life was given for everyone, regardless of their past or heritage.
Decisions and Applications
I recognize today that my achievements are not the result of my own strength, but of God’s grace. Even when I have been faithful to His mission, it is God who completes the work. Though I have stumbled and disappointed Him through my sins, God is the master of working all things together for good (Romans 8:28). I choose to praise the Lord today for His enduring mercy and His refusal to give up on me.
My Prayer: Lord, I continue my journey today by placing all my hope in Your faithfulness rather than my own. Give me the strength to overcome my weariness. Grant me the grace to "soar on wings like eagles," that I might fulfill the mission You have set before me. Let Your will be done through me, not mine. Use me as a humble instrument for Your glory alone. Amen.
