‘네 원수도 하나님은 구원하신다’ 

1. 본문 관찰과 묵상

원수가 구원받음을 보고 요나는 분노했다. 니느웨성 밖에 나가 초막 짓고 죽기 원했다.  박 넝쿨로 햇빛을 덮어줄 때 요나는 기뻐했으나 벌레 먹어 죽게 하자 화를 냈다. 

2. QT를 통해 듣는 주님의 음성

하나님은 요나가 수고도 재배도 하지 않은 선물로 받은 박 넝쿨을 귀히 여겼는데 니느웨 성에 하나님이 지으신 생명들을 아낌이 정당하지 않느냐고 했다. 

3. 결단과 적용 

요나는 이에 할말이 없었다.  나의 원수도 그를 지으신 하나님은 구원받기 원하신다.  나를 저주하고 박해하는 나의 원수를 사랑하며 그의 구원을 위하여 기도하며 살리라.    

오늘의 기도

“나로 말미암아 너희를 욕하고 박해하고 거짓으로 너희를 거슬러 모든 악한 말을 할 때에는 너희에게 복이 있나니 기뻐하고 즐거워하라 하늘에서 너희의 상이 큼이라 너희 전에 있던 선지자들도 이같이 박해 하였느니라” (마 5:11-12).  원수를 용서하며 그의 구원을 위해 기도하며 살게 하소서.  예수님의 이름으로 기도합니다.  아멘.  

‘Blessings on the Repentant’

Jonah 17–2:10

1. Observation and meditation on the text

Jonah vented his anger to God when he saw that his enemies were spared. He went outside the city and built a shelter, wishing to die. However, Jonah was delighted when God provided a leafy plant to give him shade. His anger flared up again when God sent a worm to destroy the plant.

2. I hear the voice of the Lord through QT

God corrected Jonah by pointing out that Jonah cherished the leafy plant—something he did not create or tend to, yet it provided shade to ease his discomfort. God then asked how much more He should cherish and spare His own creation in Nineveh.

3. Decisions and applications

Jonah was left speechless. God desires to save even my enemies. Therefore, I will also pray out of the love of Jesus Christ for the salvation of those who oppose me.

Today's Prayer

"Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you" (Matthew 5:11–12).

Lord, help me to keep praying so that I may truly forgive my enemies and intercede for their salvation. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
