‘교만은 패망의 선봉이다’
1. 본문 관찰과 묵상
두로는 해상무역이 중심이었다. 레바논의 백향목과 잣나무로 배를 만들어 무역했다. 주변의 족속이 두로에 와서 일하며 돈을 벌었다. 열방의 중심이 두로였다.
2. QT를 통해 듣는 주님의 음성
유다와 이스라엘을 포함한 22개 나라가 두로를 의지했다. 다시스의 배들도 계속 두로가 만든 물건을 날랐다. 바다의 중심인 두로는 큰 영화로 교만했다.
3. 결단과 적용
두로는 교만하여 자신이 하나님처럼 살았다. 그러나 자신을 높인 노래가 조가가 되었다. 창대 했으나 흔적도 없이 멸망했다. 내가 잘될수록 겸손해야 한다.
오늘의 기도
“교만은 패망의 선봉이요 거만한 마음은 넘어짐의 앞잡이니라” (잠 16:18). 주여, 오늘도 더 한 단계 낮아지며 살게 하소서. 예수님의 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.
‘Pride is the shortcut to failure’
Ezekiel 27:1–25
1. Observation and meditation on the text
Tyre was the center of maritime trade. They built their ships with the cedars of Lebanon and juniper timber from Senir to engage in global commerce. Many people from surrounding nations came to Tyre for employment. Indeed, Tyre was the center of the world at that time.
2. I hear the voice of the Lord through QT
Twenty-two nations, including Judah and Israel, relied on Tyre. The ships of Tarshish carried Tyre's wares. However, this great prosperity fostered a haughty spirit within them.
3. Decisions and applications
Out of pride, Tyre lived as if they were gods. Eventually, their songs of self-praise turned into songs of lamentation, and the great city was destroyed in the end. The more prosperous I become, the more humble I must remain.
Today's Prayer
"Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall" (Proverbs 16:18). "Lord, empower me to practice downward mobility one step further today. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen."
