‘떡 조각을 받고 예수팔기 위해 나가는 유다’
본문관찰과 묵상
마지막 만찬을 하며 예수는 제자중 하나가 자신을 배반하리라 했다. 요한이 누군가요 하는 질문에 내가 떡을 주는자라고 했다. 잔치의 주인이 손님에게 주는 사랑과 우정의 표현이 떡을 주는 것이다. 그 사랑을 받고도 가룟유다는 예수를 팔기위해 어둠속으로 나갔다.
QT를 통하여 듣는 주님의 음성
예수의 사랑과 신뢰를 받았던 가룟유다는 선을 악으로 갚았다. 그것은 그의 속에 있는 악한 영의 영향이었다. 돈에 대한 탐심은 주인도 팔아버린다. 그래서 예수는 ‘하나님과 재물을 겸하여 섬기지 못한다’(마 6:24).
결단과 적용
예수의 사랑을 나는 너무 많이 받았다. 그 사랑과 은혜를 받고도 내가 주님께 감사와 영광을 돌리지 않는다면 나도 가룟유다다. 주의 은혜로 사택도 은퇴연금도 다 주님께 드렸다. 돈에서 자유함을 얻으니 매일의 삶이 참 가볍다. 그리고 끝까지 내 목숨을 내놓고 받은 사랑과 은혜를 예수를 증거하는 삶으로 매일 살아가리라!
‘Judas who went out to betray Jesus upon receiving Jesus’ love.’
John 13:21-30
Observation and meditation on the text
Jesus prophesied that one of his disciples would betray him as he hosted the last supper. When John asked who could be that one, Jesus answered that the one whom he gave this piece of bread would betray him. To give a piece of bread was the expression of the love and friendship of the host of a banquet to a beloved guest. Judas Iscariot went out at night to sell Jesus after receiving God’s love and mercy.
I hear the voice of the Lord through QT
Judas Iscariot who was beloved and entrusted by Jesus repaid good with evil. He was deeply influenced by evil spirit which resided in his inner being. One’s covetousness for money could sell one’s own master. Therefore, Jesus declared that I cannot serve God and money at the same time’ (Matt 6:24).
Decisions and applications
I have been entrusted and beloved by Jesus more than enough. If I do not give thanks to him nor glorify him, I shall be another Judas Iscariot. In the immeasurable and immense grace of God, I could give my parsonage and retirement pension to the Lord out of love and thanksgiving to Jesus. Since I have been set free from money, my life is as light as a feather. Therefore, till the end of my life, I will lay down my life to witness Jesus my Savior and Lord out of gratitude of God’s unfathomable and immeasurable love and grace.
