‘죄의 행동은 마음에서 시작된다’  

1. 본문 관찰과 묵상

간음, 이혼, 그리고 헛된 맹세와 같은 외적인 행동들은 모두 나의 '마음'에서 시작된다. 암탉이 21일 동안 정성껏 알을 품으면 마침내 병아리가 부화하듯, 우리가 평소 마음에 품고 있는 생각들은 반드시 죄의 행동으로 나타나기 마련이다.  결국 겉으로 드러난 문제는 마음속에 머물렀던 것들의 결과물이다.

2. QT를 통해 듣는 주님의 음성

성경은 우리에게 “너희 안에 이 마음을 품으라 곧 그리스도 예수의 마음이니” (빌 2:5)라고 권면한다.  내 안에 예수의 마음을 품고 살 때 비로소 예수님의 행실이 나타날 수 있다. 음란과 간음, 거짓된 맹세는 결국 내 안에 품은 음욕과 악한 마음이 밖으로 표출된 것이다.  그러므로 바리새인처럼 대접의 겉만 닦는 종교적인 모습에 머물러서는 안 된다.  오직 성령의 능력으로 내 속사람을 강건하게 함으로써, 경건한 마음으로 몸의 행실을 다스려야 한다.

3. 결단과 적용

마음을 지키는 것이 곧 생명을 지키는 길임을 기억하며 오늘 하루 다음의 말씀으로 산다.

• “모든 지킬 만한 것 중에 더욱 네 마음을 지키라 생명의 근원이 이에서 남이니라” (잠 4:23)

• “노하기를 더디하는 자는 용사보다 낫고 자기의 마음을 다스리는 자는 성을 빼앗는 자보다 나으니라” (잠 16:32)

• “하나님이 우리에게 주신 것은 두려워하는 마음이 아니요 오직 능력과 사랑과 절제하는 마음이니” (딤후 1:7)

오늘의 기도

주여, “성령의 능력으로 내 속사람을 강건하게” (엡 3:16) 하옵소서. “우리 가운데 역사하시는 능력대로 우리가 구하거나 생각하는 모든 것에 더 넘치도록 역사하실 하나님께 간구하오니” (엡 3:20), “내가 육신대로 살면 반드시 죽을 것 이로되, 오직 성령으로써 몸의 행실을 죽이면 살리니” (롬 8:13),  “오늘 하루 하나님의 영으로 인도함을 받는 진정한 하나님의 자녀로 살게 하소서” (롬 8:14).   내 생각과 의지가 아닌 성령의 통제 아래 거하기를 원하며, 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.

‘Sinful actions flow from the inner being’

Mt. 5:27-337

1. Observation and Meditation

Adultery, divorce, and the swearing of empty oaths all originate within my own heart. Just as a hen hatches a chick after incubating an egg for 21 days, my heart "hatches" sinful actions based on whatever I have been brooding over. If I nurture sinful thoughts, they will inevitably manifest as sinful behaviors.

2. Hearing the Voice of the Lord (QT Insight)

The Scripture exhorts us: “In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus” (Phil. 2:5). If I “incubate” the heart of Jesus within me, I will produce the actions of Jesus. Sexual immorality, adultery, and prideful oaths are simply the outward realization of fleshly desires and evil thoughts. Therefore, I will not be like the hypocrites who only clean the outside of the cup. Instead, by the power of the Holy Spirit, I will allow God to strengthen my inner being so that my heart might rightly govern my outward actions.

3. Decisions and Applications

• Guarding the Source: “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it” (Prov. 4:23).

• Prioritizing Self-Control: “Better a patient person than a warrior, one with self-control than one who takes a city” (Prov. 16:32).

• Relying on the Spirit: “For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-control” (2 Tim. 1:7).

Today's Prayer

Lord, I ask that You strengthen me with power through Your Spirit in my inner being (Eph. 3:16). You are able to do immeasurably more than all I ask or imagine, according to Your power that is at work within me (Eph. 3:20). I recognize that if I live according to the flesh, I will die; but if by the Spirit I put to death the misdeeds of the body, I will live (Rom. 8:13). Help me to live today as Your child, for those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God (Rom. 8:14). In Jesus' name, Amen.
