‘한 사람의 불순종이 공동체의 위기로’
1. 본문 관찰과 묵상
요나 한 사람의 불순종이 배 안에 탄 모든 사람들을 죽음의 위기로 몰아넣는다. 그래도 하나님은 요나가 미워하는 니느웨 사람들을 구원하기를 원하신다.
2. QT를 통해 듣는 주님의 음성
내면의 치열한 갈등을 이기지 못하면 불순종한다. 내 생각을 죽이면 순종한다. 실패한 요나 를 먼저 살리기 위해 하나님은 선원, 선장, 자연도 동원하신다.
3. 결단과 적용
내 자아가 죽어야 주님의 뜻에 순종한다. 그래서 예수님도 극심한 고난 가운데 자신의 뜻에 죽음으로 하나님께 순종했다. 오늘도 내가 죽어 주님께 순종하며 살리라.
오늘의 기도
주여, 어떤 때는 남이 모르는 어떤 사람의 사악함과 사기치는 것을 세상에 다 알리고 싶은 충동이 일어납니다. 그러나 주님 말씀에 순종하여 내 자신을 부인하고 내가 죽어서 삽니다. 끝까지 순종하게 하소서. 예수님의 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.
‘One man’s disobedience results in a community’s crisis’
Jonah 1:1–10
1. Observation and meditation on the text
One man's disobedience—Jonah's—brings a deadly crisis upon everyone on board the ship. Despite Jonah's rebellion, God still desires to save the people of Nineveh, the very people whom Jonah detests.
2. I hear the voice of the Lord through QT
Through this QT, I hear the Lord speaking to me: Unless I conquer my fleshly desires, I cannot truly obey God. If I die to my own thoughts, I will be able to submit to His will. In order to save Jonah first, God orchestrates the environment—summoning the sailors, the captain, and even the forces of nature—to awaken Jonah from his physical and spiritual slumber.
3. Decisions and applications
When I die to my ego, I can obey the Lord. Jesus perfectly modeled this; He obeyed God by dying to His own human desires, even amidst extreme suffering. Today, I will lay down my fleshly desires so that I may walk in full obedience to the Lord.
Today's Prayer
Lord, sometimes I feel a strong impulse to broadcast and expose the deceptions of others to the world. However, I choose to obey You instead by dying to my own agendas and remaining as still as a dead man. Help me, Lord, to obey You faithfully all the way to the end. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
