‘예수의 제자는 어떤 삶을 택하나?’
1. 본문 관찰과 묵상
예수가 3번째 수난에 대한 예언을 했다. 그때도 제자들은 누가 큰 가 경쟁했다. 예수의 제자들은 섬김을 받는 삶이 아니라 죽기까지 섬기는 삶을 택한다.
2. QT를 통해 듣는 주님의 음성
세베대의 아내는 예수께 두 아들이 권좌에 앉게 해 달라 요청했다. 다른 제자들도 다투었다. 제자의 가는 길이 섬기는 길임을 못 깨달았다.
3. 결단과 적용
“아무든지 나를 따라 오려거든 자기를 부인하고 자기 십자가를 지고 나를 좆을 것이니라” (마 16:24). “인자가 온 것은 섬김을 받으려 함이 아니라 도리어 섬기려 하고 자기 목숨을 많은 사람의 대속 물로 주려 함이니라” (마 20:28). 나도 주님 가신 그 길을 매일 택하며 살아가리라.
오늘의 기도
주여, 주의 길을 따라 섬기며 살게 하소서. 많은 때 섬김을 받는 것에 익숙해진 나를 발견하며 회개합니다. 주님 앞에 갈 때 까지 한 알의 밀알로 매일 죽게 하소서. 30배 60배 100배의 결실을 맺게 하소서! 예수님의 이름으로 기도합니다.
‘Choosing the Lifestyle of a Disciple’
Mt. 20:17–28
1. Observation and Meditation
As Jesus traveled toward Jerusalem, He predicted His imminent suffering, death, and resurrection for the third time. Despite this somber revelation, His disciples were preoccupied with status, competing over who would be the greatest in His kingdom. Jesus challenged this worldly mindset, teaching that a true disciple must choose a life of service rather than seeking to be served.
2. Hearing the Voice of the Lord
The mother of James and John (Zebedee’s sons) approached Jesus, asking for positions of ultimate power for her children. When the other ten disciples heard this, they were indignant—not out of holiness, but because they too were seeking prestige. They failed to realize that the call to follow Jesus is a call to the bottom, not the top.
3. Decisions and Applications
"Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me" (Mt. 16:24). "The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many" (Mt. 20:28).
Application: I choose to walk the same path Jesus walked. Today, I will look for practical ways to serve the Lord and the people around me, intentionally setting aside my desire for recognition.
Today's Prayer
Lord, empower me to follow You by serving both God and neighbor. I repent for the times I have grown accustomed to being served or sought my own glory. Strengthen me so that I may live like a grain of wheat that falls to the ground and dies to itself. May You bring forth a harvest—thirty, sixty, and a hundredfold—through a life surrendered to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
