‘하나님의 교회를 분열시키지 말라’

1. 본문 관찰과 묵상

그리스도 예수께로부터 사도, 즉 “보내심을 받은자” 선교사 바울이 고린도교회회당장 소스데네와 함께 고린도교회에 분쟁이 있다는 소식에 보낸 편지다.

2. QT를 통해 듣는 주님의 음성

고린도교회 성도들이 그리스도 예수 안에서 “하나님의 교회”가 된 것은 신실하신 하나님의 은혜였음을 상기시켰다.  교회가 사람중심으로 분열되어 파당을 짓고  “그리스도의 몸”인 교회를 찢었다. 

3. 결단과 적용 

그 이유는 “하나님의 은혜를 헛되이 받았기 때문” (고후 6:1)이었다.  그리스도로 하나되었던 교회가 사람중심 으로 찢어지게 된 것은 성령이 아닌 악한 영에 사로잡힌 자 들로 말미암음 이었다.  영적인 질서가 깨지면 혼돈이 임한다.

오늘의 기도

주여,  “성령이 하나되게 하신 것을 힘써 지키게 하소서” (엡 4:3).  “영으로 시작해 육으로 마치지 않게 하소서” (갈 3:3).  “불의에 매인바” (행 8:23) 되지 않고 “성령에 매인바” 되게 하소서.  예수님의 이름으로 기도합니다.  아멘.  

‘Never Divide the Church of God’

I Co. 1:1-17

1. Observation and Meditation

This letter is written by Paul—called to be an apostle and missionary of Christ—alongside Sosthenes, the synagogue leader. They are writing to the church in Corinth after receiving reports from Chloe’s household regarding the divisions and splits occurring within the congregation.

2. Hearing the Voice of the Lord through QT

Paul reminds the believers of God’s faithfulness and grace, which has united them as "God’s church" in Jesus Christ. Sadly, the Corinthian church has become divided by centering itself around human personalities rather than Christ. By aligning themselves with specific leaders, they have effectively torn the "Body of Christ" apart.

3. Decisions and Applications

Paul vehemently rebukes this behavior, suggesting that those who cause division have "received God’s grace in vain" (2 Cor. 6:1). Division is not the work of the Holy Spirit; rather, it stems from a worldly spirit that seeks to create factions. When partisanship takes root, God’s order of creation is replaced by chaos within the church.

Today's Prayer

Lord, empower me to make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace, both in the local church and within PGM (Eph. 4:3). Protect me from the foolishness of beginning a journey in the Spirit only to try and finish it by the flesh (Gal. 3:3). Never let me be bound by unrighteousness; instead, bind me to Your Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
