‘장애는 죄가 아닌 하나님이 할 일을 보이시는 것’
본문관찰과 묵상
유대인들은 선천적 장애인을 하나님으로 징벌 받은자라고 여겼다. 그래서 누구죄 때문에 장애인이 되었나 물었을 때 예수는 하나님이 하실일을 그를 통해 나타내려고 장애를 주셨다고 했다.
QT를 통하여 듣는 주님의 음성
침을 밷어 진흙을 이겨 그의 눈에 바르고‘보냄을 받았다’라는 뜻의 실로암못으로 가서 씻으라 했다. 그는 눈을 치료받았다. 하나님이 하실일을 그 장애인을 통해 하나님으로부터 ‘보냄을 받은’예수 가 나타냈던 것이다.
결단과 적용
이런 숱한 기적들을 통해 예수는 하나님이 하실 일들을 하나님으로부터 ‘보냄을 받은 자’로, 하나님이심을 선포했지만 유대인들은 그가 하나님으로부터‘보냄을 받은 자’로 인정하지 않았다. 편견과 선입관이 이렇게 진리를 보지도 듣지도 못하게 한다. 내 눈에서 비늘같은 것이 떨어져 예수가 하나님으로부터 ‘보냄을 받은자’나의 구원자 나의 주라고 영접하게 살게 하심을 감사드린다. 오늘도 그 예수를 증거하며 기쁨과 보람으로 살아간다.

Observation and meditation on the text
Jews considered the disabled people were receiving God’s punishment due to their or their parents’ sins. When they asked Jesus what caused him to be punished by God, Jesus told them that it was not God’s punishment, but the work of God might be displayed in him.
I hear the voice of the Lord through QT
Jesus spit on the ground and made some mud with his saliva and put it on the man’s eyes. And Jesus sent him to the pond of ‘Siloam,’ meant ‘I am sent’ to wash his eyes. His eyes were healed. What God planned to do was revealed through the disabled person through Jesus ‘who was sent’ by God.
Decisions and applications
Through numerous miracles Jesus performed what God would do as ‘a man who was sent by God’ so that people would understand Jesus was God. However, Jews never recognized him as ‘a man who was sent by God.’ Prejudice and preconception may prevent me from seeing and hearing the truth. Therefore, I give thanks to the Lord who has enabled me to accept Jesus as ‘the One who is sent by God, my Savior and Lord’ by the power of the Holy Spirit so that scale like things fell off from my eyes. Today, I live with joy and spirit of fulfilment as I witness Jesus my Savior and Lord.
