본문관찰과 묵상
유다 지파가 받은 성읍과 마을들의 숫자는 나머지 지파가 받은 수와 비슷할 정도였다. 광야에서는 하나님께 순종했으나 가나안에 들어와서는 예루살렘의 여부스 족을 쫓아내지 않았다.
QT를 통해 듣는 주님의 음성
왜 그랬을까? 힘이 없어서 가 아니었다. 그들의 노동력을 이용하여 더 부자가 되고 싶었을 것이다. 욕심이 죄를 낳았다. 사사시대에 남긴 여부스 족속으로 우상숭배에 빠져 살았다.
결단과 적용
‘욕심이 잉태한 즉 죄를 낳고 죄가 장성한 즉 사망을 낳는다’ (약 1:15). 광야에서 아무것도 없었을 때는 오직 하나님 만을 믿었다. 하나님이 주신 축복에 감사했다. 알래스카에서 고래를 잡는 원주민은 자신들이 잡았다고 하지 않고 고래가 자신들을 위해 죽어주었다고 한다고 한다. 있을 때 갑절로 순종하게 하소서!

Observation and meditation on the text
The numbers of the towns and their villages Judah inherited were as many as all other tribes had received. In the wilderness when they had nothing, they obeyed God, but in prosperity in Canaan out of covetousness they did not drive Jebus tribe out of Jerusalem.
I hear the voice of the Lord through QT
Why? It was not because they were weak to do that, but they wanted to get more by using the labor out of the indigenous Jebus tribe. Their fleshly desire caused them to disobey. In the time of Judges, due to their influences Israel fell into indulgency of idol worship.
Decisions and applications
‘After desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is fully grown, gives birth to death’ (James 1:15). When they had nothing to eat in the wilderness they could rely on the Lord. They could give thanks to God. One of the Alaskan Indians never praised themselves whenever they caught a whale but declare that the whale died itself for them. Lord, help me to obey you when I am in prosperity.
