‘영생을 누릴 양과 영 벌에 처할 염소’
1. 본문 관찰과 묵상
재림 예수 오른편에 양들이 모이고 왼편에 염소가 모였다. 양들은 소자를 먹이고 돌본 자들이요 염소는 돌보지 않은 자들이다. 양들은 영생에 염소는 영 벌에 처한다.
2. QT를 통해 듣는 주님의 음성
지금은 양과 염소가 함께 산다. 재림 심판은 양과 염소를 구별한다. 예수를 섬긴 양은 소자를 섬긴 자다. 예수를 섬기지 않은 자는 소자를 섬기지 않은 자다.
3. 결단과 적용
헨리 나우웬이 고백한 대로 낮은 곳으로 내려갈 때 예수를 만난다. 나를 높여 올라가려는 길에는 예수가 없다. 오늘 나에게 “소자”가 누구인가? 찾아 돌보며 살리라. 먹을 것 입을 것도 돕지만 복음으로 영혼이 구원받게 인도하며 살리라.
오늘의 기도
주여, 보이지 않는 예수님을 내가 만나는 소자를 통해 섬기게 하소서. “소자”를 찾아 낮은 곳으로 내려가며 살게 하소서. 예수님의 이름으로 기도합니다.
‘The sheep enjoying everlasting life vs the goats suffering eternal death’
Mt. 25:31-46
1. Observation and Meditation
When Jesus returns, He will separate the people as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will place the sheep on His right hand and the goats on His left. The sheep are those who cared for "the least of these," while the goats are those who did not. Consequently, the sheep will inherit the Kingdom of God, while the goats will face eternal separation.
2. Hearing the Voice of the Lord
In this present age, the "sheep" and the "goats" coexist. However, God’s judgment at the Parousia (the Second Coming) will clearly differentiate between them. I learn that to serve Jesus is to serve the marginalized and the needy. Conversely, those who neglect the "least of these" are, in reality, neglecting Jesus Himself.
3. Decisions and Applications
As Henri Nouwen observed, we encounter Jesus through "downward mobility." Christ is often absent in the pursuit of upward status, but present in the act of lowering ourselves to serve. Today, I will intentionally look for the "least ones" to care for their needs. As I strive to meet their physical requirements, I will also seek to lead them to the salvation found in Jesus Christ.
Today's Prayer
Lord, help me serve the invisible Jesus by caring for the visible "least ones" today. Give me the humility to embrace downward mobility so that I may find You and serve You in others. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
