‘Wait until the Lord judges’
Ps. 119:73–88
1. Observation and meditation on the text
The psalmist, who may have lived during the Babylonian captivity as a member of the Jewish community, was also suffering because of his personal enemies. Nevertheless, he continued to rely on God’s Word—the Torah, or the Pentateuch. Despite the insults, ridicule, and persecution he endured, he declared that he would wait for God’s salvation and remain fully dependent on His law.
2. I hear the voice of the Lord through QT
The Lord reminds me that I must rely on His Word, especially when I am tempted to give up. Even when I experience shame, criticism, or discouragement, I can trust that the Lord will sustain me and ultimately deliver me.
3. Decisions and applications
The three friends who were thrown into the fiery furnace trusted that God was able to deliver them. Yet they also declared, “Even if He does not, we will not serve your gods” (Daniel 3:18). Their faith did not depend on the outcome; they chose to serve the Lord alone and remain faithful to Him. The fourth man, who looked like a son of the gods and was understood to be a manifestation of Jesus Christ, appeared with them in the fire and delivered them. Like these three faithful servants, I will rely on the Lord alone and wait patiently for His timing and salvation.
Today's Prayer
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6–7). Lord, help me to trust Your Word and wait for Your deliverance. When I feel discouraged or tempted to give up, strengthen my faith and keep my heart steadfast. Help me to serve You faithfully, regardless of the circumstances or outcome. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
