‘유익여부를 계산하는 자와 다 책임지는 자’
1. 본문 관찰과 묵상
보아스가 기업무를 자를 찾아 장로 10명을 증인으로 세워 엘리멜렉의 소유지를 사서 기업을 무르라 했을 때 하기로 했다. 룻 도 아내로 취하여 대를 이으라고 했다.
2. QT를 통해 듣는 주님의 음성
그는 계산을 했다. 이방여인을 아내로 맞으면 자신이 손해 볼 것 같아 하지 못하겠다고 했다. 섬길수 있는 기회는 계산하면 안 된다. 믿음으로 받는다.
3. 결단과 적용
예수님은 자신을 죽여 나를 살리셨다. 오늘 나에게 주신 섬김의 기회를 내가 손해 보는 것 같아도 다른 사람의 유익 을 위해 내가 손해보며 살리라.
오늘의 기도
“주는 것이 받는 것 보다 복이 있다” (행20:35). “이 사람을 돌보아 주라 부비가 더 들면 내가 돌아올때에 갚으리라” (눅 10:35). 선한 사마리아인처럼 살게 하소서. 예수님의 이름으로 기도 합니다. 아멘
‘Do not calculate for personal gain, but serve those in need’
Ru. 4:1-6
1. Observation and Meditation
In the presence of ten elders, Boaz presented a closer relative with the opportunity to redeem Elimelech’s land. Initially, the man agreed. However, when Boaz explained that the redemption also required marrying Ruth to carry on Elimelech’s family line and name, the man refused. He was willing to take the land, but not the responsibility that came with it.
2. Hearing the Voice of the Lord through QT
The closer relative made his decision based on a cold calculation of profit and loss. He feared that marrying Ruth would "endanger his own estate." This is a warning to me: opportunities to serve others should not be weighed by what I stand to gain. I must not let faithless calculations cause me to miss the chance to be a blessing. I choose to act for the sake of others through faith, rather than for my own security.
3. Decisions and Applications
Just as Boaz acted as a redeemer, Jesus Christ has redeemed me through His sacrificial death. He did not calculate the cost to Himself; He simply gave. Today, I will serve others with that same spirit—choosing to give even when it requires personal sacrifice.
Today's Prayer
Lord, help me to remember the words of Jesus: “It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35). Give me the heart of the Good Samaritan, who told the innkeeper, “Look after him; when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have” (Luke 10:35). May I live generously and without hesitation. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
