‘교만은 패망의 선봉이다’
본문관찰과 묵상
예루살렘은 절대 망하지 않는다고 교만했던 백성들은 근심속에 음식을 먹을 것이다. 하나님의 묵시가 사라진다고 한 말은 거짓이 되고 묵시가 응할 것이다. 허탄한 묵시나 복술은 없어지리라.
QT를 통해 듣는 주님의 음성
‘교만은 패망의 선봉이요 거만한 마음은 넘어짐의 앞잡이니라’ (잠 16:18). 택함 받은 백성이라 절대 망하지 않으리라는 교만이 결국 예루살렘을 망하게 했다. 하나님의 비전은 다 성취된다.
결단과 적용
진리를 위해 목숨을 거는 것은 확신이다. 그러나 거짓을 위해 싸우는 것은 교만이다. 나는 거짓과는 타협하지 않을 것이다. 그러나 진리를 위해서 나는 십자가 지고 죽는 데까지 가리라. ‘진리를 알지니 진리가 너희를 자유케 하리라’ (요 8:32). ‘주는 영이시니 주의 영이 계신 곳에는 자유가 있느니라’ (고후 3:17).

Observation and meditation on the text
People who were proud enough to declare that the city of Jerusalem would not be destroyed should eat food in anxiety and despair. However, their lies that God’s vision would be no longer come to them should be a lie and God’s will should be fulfilled. And false visions or flattering divinations would perish.
I hear the voice of the Lord through QT
‘Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall’ (Pr. 16:18). After all, Jerusalem was destroyed due to their pride even though they guaranteed it should not perish. God’s will and vision should never fail to fulfill.
Decisions and applications
It is assurance for me to lay down my life for the truth. However, if I lay down my life for falsehood, it is pride. I will never compromise with falsehood. However, I will take up my cross and follow Jesus all the way to the end for the truth. ‘You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free’ (Jn 8:32). ‘The Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom’ (I Co 3:17).
