‘복음이 전파되게 나의 길을 인도하신 하나님’
본문 관찰과 묵상
아덴에서 바울은 우상이 많음을 보고 격분하여 복음을 전하기 시작했다. 쾌락주의자와 금욕주의자들이 아레오바고에서 바울이 자신이 믿는 것을 말하게 하였다. 바울을 종교심이 많은 그들을 칭찬하였다. 그리고 천지를 지으신 하나님이 생명주시고 한 혈통으로 만드셨다고 하였다.
QT를 통하여 듣는 주님의 음성
그 하나님이 정하신 자, 죽었다 다시 부활하신 예수 그리스도를 통하여 세상을 심판하시기에 회개하고 그를 믿어야 한다고 설교했다. 부활을 조롱하는 사람도 있었다. 그러나 아레오바고의 관리 디오누시오와 다마리는 믿었다. 유통이 잘 발전된 유럽으로 선교팀을 보내신 이유를 알게하시니 감사드린다.
결단과 적용
아시아로 가려던 바울을 유럽으로 보내신 성령님은 수많은 우상을 섬기는 아덴사람들에게도 복음이 전파되게 하셨다. 하나님을 모르는 사람들이 예수 그리스도를 통하여 하나님을 알게 하려고 복음을 전했다. 믿는자들이 나왔다. 나를 여기로 보내신 하나님의 뜻을 분별하고 오늘도 복음을 전하며 살리라!

Observation and meditation on the text
Having been distressed by so many idol worshipers at Athens, Paul began to preach the gospel there. The Epicureans and the Stoics had Paul share his belief in Areopagus. Paul commended them on their religious lifestyle. And he preached that God who created the world had given all human beings life and made all nations out of one man.
I hear the voice of the Lord through QT
That God who was the creator, set one person, Jesus Christ who died and resurrected to become the ultimate judge for the world so that all human being must repented their sins and believed in him. Some ridiculed Paul’s teaching of resurrection. However, such people as Dionysius and Damari who were members of Areopagus and some others believed in Paul’s teaching. I realize now why God sent the 2nd mission team not to Asia but to Europe where the logistics were far in advance.
Decisions and applications
The Holy Spirit enabled Paul to preach the gospel to Athenians who were idol worshipers. Now I understand why the Holy Spirit sent Paul there, not to Asia. Paul preached the gospel so that those who did not know God might be led to Jesus Christ to get to know who God was and what was God’s will. Some began to believe in Jesus Christ. Since I have discerned the will of God who has sent me here, today I will keep on preaching the gospel here and now.
