‘하나님께 순종하는 자가 세상법도 잘 지킨다’
본문관찰과 묵상
유다왕 아마샤의 아들 아사랴(웃시야)가 16세에 왕이 되어 52년간 통치하였다. 전쟁에서 승리하자 교만하여 제사장대신 왕이 제사드리다가 문둥병자가 되었다. 죽는 날까지 요담 왕자가 다스렸다. 잘 될 때가 겸손할 때다.

여로보암 2세의 아들 스가랴가 이스라엘을 6달 다스리며 악을 행하였다.
살룸이 반역하여 죽이고 대신 왕이 되었다. 여호와가 예후에게 예언하신 대로 스가랴 까지 4대만 왕이 되게 하셨다(왕하 10:30).
결단과 적용
이스라엘의 왕들은 여로보암의 길로 우상숭배하며 불순종하며 살았다. 하나님앞에 불순종하니 법도 지키지 않았다. 계속 반역의 연속이었다. 한편 다윗과의 언약으로 유다를 계속 축복했으나 유다의 왕들은 자신들이 잘하는 줄 아는 교만으로 계속 망했다. 이스라엘 왕들은 순종을 유다의 왕들은 겸손을 배우고 실천했어야 했다. 나도 오늘 순종과 겸손으로 나를 쳐서 복종시킨다.

Observation and meditation on the text
King of Judah, Amaziah’s son Azariah (Uzziah) became king at 16 and ruled over Judah for 52 years. When he won the victory at a war, he grew pride and sacrificed offering which was a priest’s job. He was punished by God and became a leper. Since that time until he died his son prince Jodam ruled over Judah. When everything goes well, it is the right time for me to be humble.

King Zechariah, Jeroboam II’s son became king and ruled Israel with wickedness. Shallum conspired against him and killed him. As the Lord prophesied to Jehu, his descendants could reign only for 4 generations till Zechariah (II Kings 10:30).
Decisions and applications
Kings in Israel took the way of Jeroboam and worshiped Idols out of disobedience. When a person disobeys the Lord, he is inclined not to obey the law in the world. There was conspiracy after conspiracy. On the other hand, God blessed Judah due to God’s covenant with David. And all kings of Judah grew pride that they were doing excellent. Kings of Israel should have learned and practiced obedience. Kings of Judah should also have learned and practiced humility. Therefore, today, I chastise myself to live with obedience and humility to the Lord and people.
