‘살리기 위하여 나는 죽으며 살리라’
본문관찰과 묵상
아하시야가 다락 난간에서 떨어져 병이 들었다. 그는 하나님께 병 낫기를 구하지 않고 에르론의 신 바알 세붑, ‘파리의 왕’우상에게 사자를 보내 낫겠느냐고 물었다. 아하시야는 공개적으로 하나님을 완전 무시하였던 것이다.
QT를 통하여 듣는 주님의 음성
무시당한 하나님이 엘리야에게 아하시아 왕의 사자에게 왕이 죽을것을 예언하라 하셨다. 엘리야가 왕의 사자에게 말하자 왕의 사자는 바알 세붑에 가던 길을 돌려 왕에게 가서 왕이 더 못살 것 이라고 메시지를 전했다. 왕의 사자들은 왕보다 하나님을 더 믿었던 것이다.
결단과 적용
‘하나님이 돌보신다’라는 이름의 뜻을 가진 아하시야는 하나님의 품안의 돌봄보다 자신을 우상의 돌봄에 맡겼다. 나는 나의 이름값을 하며 사는가? 바 예수도 예수의 아들이란 이름으로 마귀의 자식처럼 살지 않았나? 그리스도인의 이름이 내게 축복으로 주어졌다. 작은 예수처럼 살아가리라. 오늘도 내가 죽어야 가정도 교회도 PGM도 산다. 살리기 위하여 죽는 삶을 살아가자.

Observation and meditation on the text
Ahaziah had fallen through the lattice of his upper room and injured himself. He did not ask God for healing, but he sent messengers to Baal-Zebub, ‘the king of flies,’ which was the god of Ekron to consult whether he would be healed or not. Openly Ahaziah neglected the Lord openly in public.
I hear the voice of the Lord through QT
When God was humiliated by king Ahaziah, God spoke to Elijah to send a messenger to the king to prophecy his death. When Elijah delivered God’s message to the messengers sent by the king, they returned to the king and delivered Elijah’s message from God that the king would not live any longer. Ahaziah’s messengers believed much more God than the king.
Decisions and applications
Ahaziah meant the Lord took care of him, but Ahaziah refused to live in God’s arms but threw him in idol’s care. Do I live up to my name? Bar-Jesus meant Jesus’ son, but didn’t he live as a son of Devil? God blessed me by naming me a Christian. Therefore, I must live up to my name, a little Christ. If I die to myself, my family, church, and PGM shall be alive. For the rest of my life, I will live to die to revive others.
