‘죄의 삯은 사망, 주의 은혜는 구원’
본문관찰과 묵상
예루살렘(오홀리바)은 그의 언니 사마리아 (오홀라) 가 마신 심판의 잔을 마시고 멸망할 것이다. 그들이 섬기다가 배반한 바벨론과 갈대아를 하나님이 들어 심판의 도구로 사용할 것이다.
QT를 통해 듣는 주님의 음성
율법은 하나님의 은혜로 구원받은 백성이 마땅히 구별된 삶을 살라고 주신 하나님의 축복이다. 그런데 율법을 버리니 영육 간에 음란과 행음으로 구별되지 못한 삶을 살았다. 결과는 죽음이었다.
결단과 적용
‘모든 사람이 죄를 범하였으매 하나님의 영광에 이르지 못 하더 니’ (롬 3:23). 율법을 떠나면 영육 간에 죄를 짓고 하나님과의 교제가 끊어져 영적으로 죽는다. ‘죄의 삯은 사망이요 하나님의 은사는 그리스도 예수 우리 주 안에 있는 영생이다’ (롬 6:23). 예수의 보혈이 중간에 막힌 담을 허시고 구원하셨다. 오직 은혜로 산다.

Observation and meditation on the text
Jerusalem (Oholibah) would drink the cup of God’s judgment her older sister Samaria (Oholah) drank, and she should be destroyed. Babylon and Chaldeans whom Jerusalem served but betrayed would be used as God’s instrument of judgment.
I hear the voice of the Lord through QT
The Law is God’s blessing for the saved people by God’s grace so that they may live a differentiated life as a holy nation. Since Jerusalem disowned God’s law, they had lived a physically and spiritually promiscuous life in lewdness and prostitution. As a result, they will experience death.
Decisions and applications
‘All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God’ (Rom 3:23). If I abandon God’s law, I will be annihilated from God and die immediately by committing sins physically and spiritually. ‘For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord’ (Rom 6:23). The blood of Jesus has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, and saved all of us. Therefore, I simply enjoy my salvation by his grace today!
