‘Judgment inspires me to turn away from sins’
Eze 16:53-63
Observation and meditation on the text
Jerusalem ridiculed such surrounding idolaters as Sodom, Samaria, and Philistines. However, when their lewdness was revealed, they would be punished by God and would be ridiculed by their enemies. Judah would be judged as much as they despised God.
I hear the voice of the Lord through QT
However, after the destruction of Judah by God’s judgment and mockeries by the surrounding idolaters, God would establish a new covenant, who is Jesus so that they would be saved by the defray of the wages of sins by his crucifixion as he shouted out ‘it is finished’ (Greek: tetelesti). Then, they will never worship idols again as they remember their shame in the past by their spiritual lewdness.
Decisions and applications
Jesus has come as a new covenant and he accomplished my salvation by declaring, ‘it is finished’ (Gr: tetelesti) (Jon 19:30) when he was crucified. Jesus has defrayed the wages of my sins. By his grace I believe in Jesus, and I am saved. Whenever I
remember all my sins before I knew Jesus, out of shame I shut my mouth. And I take up my cross and follow Jesus without any complaints today.
