‘대적 자와도 화평을 이루며 살라!’
본문 관찰과 묵상
이스라엘이 가나안에 들어 가려면 에돔 땅을 통과해야 했다. 에돔 왕에게 오직 왕의 길로 가고 아무 해도 안 끼치고 물값도 내겠다고 했지만 거절당했다. 거절당할 때 나는 어떻게 대처해야 하나?
QT를 통해 듣는 주님의 음성
에돔은 에서의 아들이니 야곱의 후손 이스라엘과 형제다. 형제에게 거절당했다. 하나님은 에돔과 다투지 말라고 했다 (신 2:4-5). 거절당해도 싸우지 말아야 한다. 도리어 축복해주어야 한다.
결단과 적용
내가 누구를 위해 축복했는데 그들이 거절하면 내가 기도한 그 복은 내게도 돌아온다 (마 10:12-13). 그러므로 나는 내 친구 든 원수 든 거절당해도 평안을 기도해 주리라. 하나님의 아들이니 peace maker 로 살리라!

Observation and meditation on the text
The Israelites must go through the land of the Edomites to enter Canaan. Therefore, Moses asked the king of Edom to allow them to take the King’s Highway. He promised that they would never harm their properties, and they would willingly pay for the water for them and the flock. However, they were rebuffed by him. What should I do when I am rejected by anyone?
I hear the voice of the Lord through QT
Since Edom was the descendants of Essau, they were the brothers of the Israelites who were the children of Jacob. But the Israelites were rejected bluntly by their brothers. God ordered them, however, never to fight against their brothers (Deu 2:4-5). Therefore, I must not fight against the rejectors. Rather, I must pray for them to bless them.
Decisions and applications
If I bless anyone, but if that person is not deserving, the blessing will return to me (Matt 10:12-13). Therefore, I will pray and bless both my friends and enemies even though they may reject me. Since I am a child of God, I will live as a peace maker.
