‘하나되게 하시는 하나님께 기도하라’
본문 관찰과 묵상
베냐민 지파 세바가 온 이스라엘을 모아 다윗에게 반역 하였다. 다윗은 유다지파만을 데리고 예루살렘에 입성하였다. 아마사에게 유다사람을 모으라했는데 지체하였다. 아비새에게 대신 맡겼다. 아비새와 요압이 함께 아마사를 만나고 요압이 아마사를 죽였다. 그리고 세바를 쫓아갔다.
QT를 통하여 듣는 주님의 음성
다윗이 공적과 배반한 것에 대한 상벌의 명확함이 없이 인간적으로 이스라엘과 유다를 통합하려 한 것은 계속 반역이 일어났다. 세바의 반역으로 오히려 하나님은 압살롬을 죽여 강등되었던 요압이 반역자 아마사를 죽이고 복권되게 하셨다.
결단과 적용
공동체가 하나 되게 하기 위하여는 대충 유화정책으로는 되지 않는다. 다윗이 하나님께 기도하지 않고 인간적인 방법으로 통합하려한 것은 계속되는 갈등과 반역의 연속이었다. 요압대신 아마사를 군대장관으로 했던 다윗의 실책을 하나님은 이번에는 요압이 아마사를 죽임으로 예전의 질서가 회복되게 하셨다. 다시 회복시키시는 분은 하나님이다. 기도하며 하나되게 하는 나의 남은 사역이 되기를 기도한다.

Observation and meditation on the text
Sheba a Benjamite troublemaker revolted against David. Therefore, David entered to Jerusalem with the Judeans only. David ordered Amashai to recruit all the men of Judah to chase Sheba within 3 days. When it was delayed, David appointed Abishai for the chase. When Abishai and Joab met Amashai, Joab plunged Amashai to death. And they began to chase Sheba.

David’s strategy to unite Israel and Judah without asking to God caused continual treason because there was no lucid reward or punishment on the faithful and the unfaithful respectively. However, God made a divine intervention on Sheba’s treason, and Joab was restored to the commander of the army from his disobedience to David by killing Absalom as he killed the traitor Amashai.
Decisions and applications
To bring about unity in a community a simple humane strategy for unity will not work. Since David never prayed to God to ask for God’s divine intervention, his humane way for unity continually produced another conflict and treason continually. David’s mistake to replace Joab for Amashai was restored by God’s divine intervention that Joab became the commander of David’s army by killing Amashai. As a result, royal order was recovered. It is God who restores his creation order. For the rest of my pastoral ministries, I am determined to pray to God to bring about unity in God’s community in God’s creation order.
