‘통곡으로 회개하고 주께 돌아오면 살리라!’
본문관찰과 묵상
유다가 바벨론에 멸망하기전에 요엘 선지자의 심판의 예언 메시지다. 바벨론이 메뚜기처럼 떼로 몰려와 자연만이 아닌 이스라엘을 멸망시킬 것이다. 이 멸망의 예언을 깨어서 자녀들에게도 전하라고 하였다. 하나님을 버렸으니 예배도 끊어지고 즐거움이 통곡으로 바뀔 것이다.
QT를 통하여 듣는 주님의 음성
회개하지 않은 유다는 결국 바벨론에 망했다. 요나의 예언을 듣고 회개한 이방인 앗수르의 수도 니느웨 사람들은 다 살림받았다. 통곡으로 회개하지 않으면 즐거움이 통곡으로 변하고 통곡으로 회개하면 나의 삶에 기쁨과 즐거움이 넘칠 것이다.
결단과 적용
아내가 쓰러지고 난후 매일 아내를 간병하며 나는 많은 축복을 받고 산다. 왜? 매일 회개하기 때문이다. 아내를 돌본다는 것은 매일 내가 죽어야만 가능하다. 주님이 나를 구원하시기 위하여 얼마나 내가 주님을 죄로 힘들게 하셨으면 주님이 죽으셔서 나를 살리셨는가? 생각할때마다 회개요 회개하고 겸손히 낮은 자리에서 섬길 때 통곡이 기쁨이 되기 때문이다.

Observation and meditation on the text
It was the message of the last day judgment by Joel before Judah was destroyed by Babylon. Babylon would attack Judah like a swarm of locust as a mighty numerous army and destroy not only nature but also Israel. Joel challenged people to deliver his prophecy to their children. Since they deserted God, there should be no worship and their joy would be replaced with cry.
I hear the voice of the Lord through QT
After all, Judah was destroyed by Babylon because they did not repent of their sins. On the contrary the citizens of Nineveh in Assyria repented of their sins and saved when they heard Jonah’s prophecy. If I do not repent my sins as I tear my heart with cry, my joy shall become cry. If I repent my sins with cry, my cry shall become joy.
Decisions and applications
Since my wife collapsed physically, I have been blessed unprecedentedly as I am taking care of her. Why? I repent of my sins as I begin to see my noir as I serve my wife. It is possible for me to be able to take care of my wife only by dying to my ego-centric selfishness. To save such a sinner like me how many times and how much Jesus must have been endured me until he died to himself in order to pay the debt of my sins? At every moment of my realization of my sins, I cannot help but repenting of my sins to serve my wife in humility. After experiencing this spiritual cycle, I begin to taste real joy as my cry is replaced by delight.
