‘결혼 하는 것이 좋은가 혼자 사는 게 좋은가?’
1. 본문 관찰과 묵상
바리새인들이 예수께 이유가 있으면 모세도 이혼증서를 주고 버리라고 했는데 예수는 어떻게 생각하느냐 고 물었다. 음행 한 연고 없이는 버리면 안 된다고 대답하셨다.
2. QT를 통해 듣는 주님의 음성
예수는 하나님이 남자와 여자를 지으셨고 결혼해 둘이 한 몸 되어 살라는 하나님의 창조질서를 전했다. 하나님이 짝지어 주신 것을 사람이 나누지 못한다.
3. 결단과 적용
바리새인들은 그렇다면 차라리 결혼하지 않는 것이 좋겠다고 했다. 바울은 자신 같이 천국 복음을 전하기 택함 받아 고자 된 자, 스스로 아니면 타의에 의해 고자 된 자가 있다고 했다. 아내가 먼저 천국으로 간 후 나는 나의 남은 삶은 천국 복음을 위해 혼자 사는 자로 부름을 받았다. 주님께 감사 드린다.
오늘의 기도
주여 지난 40여년간 주님이 짝지어 주신 아내와 한 몸, 한 영이 되어 살게 하신 것 감사 드립니다. 이제 혼자가 된 것은 남은 삶 천국에 갈 때 까지 스스로 혼자 되어 복음을 위해 살라고 사명주심을 감사 드립니다. 끝까지 승리하게 하소서! 예수님의 이름으로 기도합니다.
‘Is it better to marry or not to marry?’
Mt. 19:1-12
1. Observation and Meditation
The Pharisees tested Jesus by asking if it was lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any reason. They pointed to the Mosaic law, which allowed for a certificate of divorce. Jesus responded by highlighting the original intent of creation, stating that except for cases of sexual immorality, no one should divorce. He emphasized that marriage is a divine union that humanity should not divide.
2. Hearing the Voice of the Lord
I hear the Lord declaring that because God created male and female and joined them as "one flesh," the bond of marriage is sacred. What God has joined together, no person has the authority to separate. It is a call to honor the permanent nature of the covenant God established at the beginning of time.
3. Decisions and Applications
When the disciples suggested that it might be better not to marry at all, Jesus explained the concept of "eunuchs"—those who do not marry. He noted that some are born that way, some are made that way by others, and some choose that life for the sake of the Kingdom of Heaven.
Since the Lord has called my wife home to His heavenly kingdom, I believe I am now called to live "as a eunuch" for the rest of my life. This is not a life of lack, but a life dedicated to the Gospel and the Kingdom of God. I thank the Lord for this specific calling and for the years of unity I shared with my wife.
Today's Prayer
Lord, thank you for the blessing of the years my wife and I spent as one body, both physically and spiritually. I am grateful for the time we had. Now, I thank You for this new season and the calling to live a devoted life for the sake of Your Kingdom. Please empower and strengthen me to preach the Gospel faithfully and to live a victorious life for Your glory until the day I join You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
