‘세례 요한 보다 더 큰 자가 누구인가?’
1. 본문 관찰과 묵상
여자가 낳은 자 중에 세례 요한 보다 큰 자가 없다. 그러나 천국에서는 지극히 작은 자라도 세례 요한보다 더 크다. 왜? 세례 요한은 예수의 길, 구원받을 길을 예비한 자요 천국에 있는 자는 예수로 구원을 받은 자 이기 때문이다.
2. QT를 통해 듣는 주님의 음성
이 시대는 망령된 시대다. 영이신 하나님께 반응하지 않는다. 피리를 불어도 곡을 해도 무반응이다. 세례 요한은 모든 선지자와 율법이 예언한 구약 의 마지막 선지자였고 나는 예수 믿고 구원받은 천국백성이다.
3. 결단과 적용
예수를 예언하는 엘리야 가 곧 세례 요한 이었다. 모든 예언자와 율법이 예언한 예수를 믿고 구원을 받아 천국 백성이 되어 세례 요한 보다 더 큰 자가 되게 하신 주님을 찬양한다. 그리고 선지자나 율법을 전하는 자가 아닌 그것을 완성하신 길, 진리, 생명 되신 예수를 전하며 살아가리라.

주여, 나를 택하사 긍휼로 성령으로 예수를 하나님 으로 믿게 하사 예수를 영접하고 천국백성이 되게 하신 주님께 감사와 영광을 올려 드립니다. 내가 살아가는 동안에 오직 예수만 전하며 살게 하소서! 나를 세례 요한 보다 더 크게 하신 주님을 전파하며 남은 생을 살게 하소서. 예수의 이름으로 기도합니다.
‘Who is greater than John the Baptist?’
Mt. 11:1-19
1. Observation and Meditation
Jesus declares that among those born of woman, no one is greater than John the Baptist. Yet, the least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. Why? Because John stood at the threshold of the promise, but the citizens of the kingdom live in its fulfillment. We are not just prophets of the coming King; we are the redeemed children of the King, saved by the finished work of Jesus Christ.
2. Hearing the Voice of the Lord
This generation is often indifferent to the divine. Whether the pipe plays a joyful song or a dirge is sung in mourning, the hearts of many remain unmoved. While John the Baptist was the pinnacle of the Law and the Prophets under the Old Covenant, I have been brought into the New Covenant through faith. My identity is no longer defined by the Law, but by my citizenship in the Kingdom of Heaven.
3. Decisions and Applications
John was the "Elijah" who prepared the way for the Messiah. Today, I praise the Lord for the privilege of living on this side of the Cross. I am "greater" than John not by my merit, but by my position in Christ.
Decision: I will not dwell on the shadows of the old Law, but will witness to the substance: Jesus Christ, who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
Application: I will share the Gospel of grace with a generation that has grown numb to the Spirit
Today's Prayer
Lord, I give You thanks and glory for choosing me. By Your mercy and the Holy Spirit, You enabled me to believe in Jesus as God, to receive Him, and to become a citizen of heaven. As long as I live, let me live only to proclaim Jesus! Let me spend the rest of my life testifying to the Lord who has raised me to this heavenly status. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
