‘회개를 통해서 회복시키시는 하나님’
1. 본문 관찰과 묵상
성령은 요나를 회개시켰다. 회개한 요나가 외치자 성령은 니느웨성의 왕부터 짐승까지 다 회개시켰다. 하나님의 심판의 계획을 바꿔 구원하게 한 것은 회개였다.
2. QT를 통해 듣는 주님의 음성
성령의 책망을 받고 회개한 자가 회개를 외칠 수 있다. 하나님은 요나가 회개할 때까지 기다리 셨다. 하나님은 유대인도 이방인도 다 구원하기를 원하신다.
3. 결단과 적용
하나님이 나를 향해 오늘도 참으시는 이유는 “너희를 향한 나의 생각은 내가 아나니 평안이요 재앙이 아니니라 너희에게 미래와 희망을 주는 것이니라” (렘 29:11).
오늘의 기도
“나의 이름으로 일컫는 내 백성이 악한 길에서 떠나 스스로 낮추고(회개) 내 얼굴을 찾으면 내가 하늘에서 듣고 그들의 죄를 사하고 그들의 땅을 고칠지라” (대하 7:14). 나부터 회개하니 가정과 교회와 나라와 민족을 구원하소서. 예수님의 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.
‘God restores broken lives only through repentance.’
Jonah 3:1–10
1. Observation and meditation on the text
It is the Holy Spirit who convicts Jonah of his sinfulness and leads him to repentance. When the transformed Jonah preaches in Nineveh, the Holy Spirit moves so powerfully that every living creature—from the king to the livestock—repents. Ultimately, it is sincere repentance that moves God to relent from judgment and offer salvation instead.
2. I hear the voice of the Lord through QT
Only those who have been convicted by the Holy Spirit and have repented themselves can truly preach the message of repentance. God patiently waited for Jonah to turn back to Him. This reveals God's heart: He desires to save all sinners, both Jews and Gentiles alike.
3. Decisions and applications
Why does God patiently wait for me? Because His intentions for me are good:
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11)
Today's Prayer
"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." (2 Chronicles 7:14)
Lord, please hear my repentance. Heal and save our families, our churches, our nations, and all people. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
