‘여기에 있는 것 보다 천국을 사모하며 살라!’
1. 본문 관찰과 묵상
높은 산에서 예수가 기도할 때 용모가 변형되었다. 베드로는 여기 있는 것이 좋다 했지만 예수는 자신이 그런 영광 중에 별세할 것을 예언했다.
2. QT를 통해 듣는 주님의 음성
이 땅에서의 삶만 생각하고 산다면 우리는 가장 불쌍한 사람이다. 세례 요한이 죽은 것 처럼 예수도 죽음으로 대속을 이루신다. 나도 그 길을 간다.
3. 결단과 적용
“만일 그리스도 안에서 우리가 바라는 것이 다만 이 세상의 삶 뿐이면 모든 사람 가운데 우리가 더욱 불쌍한 자이리라” (고전 15:19). 세례요한도 예수도 나도 죽음으로 영광가운데 살리라!
오늘의 기도
주여, 내가 이 세상에서 사는 것 만으로 만족하지 않게 하소서! 세례 요한처럼, 모세와 엘리야처럼 예수와 함께 십자가에서 정과 욕을 못박아 죽어버리고 부활하신 예수와 함께 영원한 천국에서 살 소망으로 충만케 하소서! 그리고 이 복음을 이 땅에 사는 마지막 순간까지 전하며 살게 하소서! 예수의 이름으로 기도합니다.
‘Desire more to live in the kingdom of heaven than on earth’
Mt. 17:1–13
1. Observation and Meditation
While praying on a high mountain, Jesus was outwardly transformed. Peter declared that it was good for them to remain there, but Jesus revealed that the Son of Man must die in God’s glory to lead us into the heavenly kingdom.
2. Hearing the Voice of the Lord
If our hope in Christ is for this life only, we are to be pitied more than anyone else. Just as John the Baptist fulfilled his mission through his death, Jesus completed our redemption through His. I, too, choose to take up the life and mission of Jesus Christ.
3. Decisions and Applications
"If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied" (1 Cor. 15:19). Like John the Baptist, Moses, and Elijah, I will live for God’s glory. I commit to living a redemptive life, preparing the way for Jesus Christ in the hearts of others.
Today's Prayer
Lord, please empower me so that I do not live a life of earthly complacency. Fill me with a great hope for everlasting life in Your heavenly kingdom. As I crucify my fleshly desires with Jesus—following the examples of John the Baptist, Moses, and Elijah—grant me the grace to be resurrected with Christ. Strengthen me to continue preaching the Gospel until the very last moment of my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen
